Klosters Celebrates New Year With Partying, Pigs

The ski area of Davos-Klosters hosts the third edition of its Party Xenia New Year's Eve.  Party goers flocked to the Kongresszentrum Davos to bring in the New Year in style. More than 2000 guests will attendthe party which is spread over three floors and features more than 10 DJs. Special guest Xenia Tchoumitcheva opened the event.

Klosters continues the celebrations  New Year's Dawith its traditional Klosterser Pig Race ‘Hotschrennen'. Each year this entertaining event is held in the centre of the village - on Banhofstrasse - and features 10 locally raised pigs competing in a race. The pig to win the race was proclaimed the lucky charm of the year 2009.

Klosters is one of the most popular ski resorts in Switzerland and is a destination of choice for the British Royal family. The resort offers access to 305 kilometres of piste divided into 85 runs and connected by 26 state-of-the-art ski lifts. The resort is experiencing excellent early snowfall, with 31cm on the lower slopes and 138cm on the upper slopes.

So, you'll want to be in Switzerland to ring in the New Year and then enjoy pig racing and plenty of skiing and riding the next day and beyond.
