The Alpe d'Huez Comedy Film Festival is returning to the resort for the 12th time from Jan. 20-25, 2009. The film industry sets up in Alpe d'Huez for one week every year to celebrate the popularity of comedy films.

The Alpe d'Huez Tourist Office says: "Thanks to an increasing enthusiasm for film and a new recognition of comedies, the film industry in France and all over the world has a bright future."

The ski resort is hosting a range of other events throughout the winter season. Organised by the GUC (Grenoble University Club), the Urban Alpine Ski World Cup is a Super G race attracting the best international competitors. The event will be held Jan. 30 and 31, 2009. Another popular event is the Europe Ski Cross Championship, which is a cross-country race March 14 and 15.

Alpe d'Huez is a good all round resort with a modern lift system. Skiers can reach a height of 3330 metres. The 249 kilometres of piste are divided into 123 slopes and connected by 87 lifts. There is also glacier skiing and 50 kilometres of cross country trails.

Get ready for a few laughs and plenty of skiing and riding. You can't miss with that combination.
