British Columbia Ferries and Mount Washington Alpine Resort have teamed up with a deal for those who live off Vancouver Island. You can buy a two-night getaway that gets your ferry ride at a discount.
The BC Ferries Ski Package includes a two-night stay at Mt. Washington Resort, two days of lift tickets, and the discounted ferry ride. The rate is based on four people sharing a two-bedroom condominium.
Traveling to Mount Washington, which borders Stathcona Provincial Park and the Beaufort Mountains, requires hopping a ferry from the mainland across the Georgia Straight. The Powell River Ferry lands at Campbell River. Both the Horseshoe Bay and Tsawwassen ferries land in Nanaimo. Each ferry has several crossings per day. Then, you must drive to the resort, made easier by the new Inland Island Highway. The drive from Nanaimo takes 75 minutes.
The ferry discount in the package knocks 33 percent off the fees for the sailing. The discount applies to your vehicle and up to four passengers. It also includes reserved boarding for the Vancouver-Nanaimo crossing. Call BC Ferries at 888-223-3779 for schedule information.
The package is good through Jan. 31. It costs $259 per person and is subject to availability. Book the package by calling 888-231-1499 or 250-338-1386.
