Tyrol To Celebrate New Year In Style

The resorts of the Tyrolean Alps will ring in the New Year with torch relays, snow shows, fireworks, and open-air concerts.

Kufstein is hosting a Pre-New Year's Eve party Dec. 30, 2008. More than 8,000 visitors will gather in the town center, which will be turned into a huge concert and party stage. Live music, shows and plenty of food and drinks can be enjoyed from 6 p.m. The highlight of the evening will be the impressive fireworks display.

A mountain spectacle In Maurach am Achensee will take place Dec. 31 at the Zwölferkopf peak. Party-goers can celebrate until sunrise at the Achenkirchener Salettl pavilion.

Kaiserwinkl starts its New Year's celebrations with a cross-country competition and a torch relay of ski instructors, followed by a brass band, gun salutes, and live folke music.

The Kitzbühel tourist board is hosting a New Year's Eve party in Jochberg Dec. 31. There will be a torch relay, fire jumping events, music from the local brass band, and impressive fireworks starting at 4:30 p.m.

The gigantic New Year's Eve party in St Johann includes fireworks, torch relays, and spectacular fire jumps. This is followed by the highlight Jan. 1: the ski show and ski party of the Total Ski and Snowboard School in Kirchdorf.
