Challenge Yourself At Monarch Mountain Town Event

The place to race in Colorado The place to race in Colorado

Ready for a real challenge? Then Monarch Mountain is the place for you.

Monarch Mountain conducts its Town Challenge every year in January and February. It's a fun slalom race geared for all ability levels and most methods of downhill travel.

The atmosphere is about having a good time and camaraderie and, to that end, the Monarch has organized the event into a team format, with a minimum of three racers (which must consist of two males and one female or two females and one male) up to a maximum of six competitors. One caveat: Once you've made up your roster, that's it, there are no substitutions allowed.

There are also six distinct racing categories or leagues: Telemark, A-League skiing, B-League skiing, Snowboard, Masters (over 50 years old), and Super Seniors (over 62).

The cost of entering a team is $100, with additional teams under the same sponsor priced at $55.

The Town Challenge begins on Jan. 9, and continues for the next six Fridays until Feb. 27 (there will be no racing Feb. 13).

Download an entry form online, go to General Info, then the Events Calendar, then click on Town Challenge. Or call the resort's Guest Service desk at (719) 530-5050.
