12th December 2008 | RC Williams, Staff Writer

The storm system in the Northeast makes its way out the door this weekend leaving a winter gift behind, big time (and long overdue) action in store for the West and things stay chilly in the Midwest with another storm system ramping up on Sunday. RC

Northeast

The remains of a busy week head out of the area Friday leaving behind some significant snow dumps and some damage from freezing rain/ice. Look for the last parts of the storm to drop snow from New York City to New Hampshire before the end of the day Friday. Cool temps stay in the forecast through the weekend. Highs mid teens to mid 20's.

West

It looks like the aforementioned winter action is on its way. Temps drop in the region starting on Friday and will move snow levels down rapidly through the weekend. Several feet of snow in store for the mountains of Washington, Oregon and California before the weekend is over and the arctic temps stay put through at least mid week. Look for temps in the mid teens to the mid 30's.

Midwest

Cool temps stay in the mix this weekend, bringing some snow to western Michigan and Indiana Friday. Keep an eye out on Sunday for another significant system to get rolling. Highs for the region in the mid 30's.
