Ohio snowboarders rejoice. Mad River Mountain, home hill to Louie Vito, is hosting a couple of rail jams in October.

The first event takes place at GearFest in Dayton, Ohio, Saturday, Oct. 1, and the second is MRM’s own Capital Rail Jam on Saturday, Oct. 22. Last season Vito made an appearance, but no word about this year yet.

GearFest, held in Eastwood Metro Park, in just a few short years has grown into one of the largest fall outdoor festivals in the Midwest. Last year it drew over 8,000 outdoor enthusiasts. The Hunt for Shred October, hosted by MRM, will feature the Jr. Avalanche Tubing Park, an early season rail set and lots of shaved ice.

Capital Rail Jam 2011 will feature a creative preseason rail set, movie premieres, a snow apparel fashion show and live entertainment with Ohio’s own Ark Band. Additional events are still being planned for the entire family.

MRM turns 50 this season, and they are planning lots of events celebrating the milestone all season long. Look for lots of new features in Capital Park. The Loft has had a top-to-bottom facelift, there is a new base lodge and an expansion of the tubing area is taking place in Avalanche Tubing Park. Get ready for an exciting, fun-filled season.
