Flaine is celebrating its 40th anniversary this winter. The resort will host a series of sports events, shows, entertainment, and surprises for all ages to mark the occasion from Dec. 19-26 and Jan. 24-31.

Another important date in Flaine is Jan. 14, which is when the freestyle FIS Ski Cross World Cup takes place. The Flaine Tourist Office says: "This run is like a moto cross circuit with bumps, speed and fast curves. Technique and tactic are the key elements in such a run where you can take over at anytime, anywhere, and suspense is guaranteed till the finish line."

A special week of activities will be organised for children from April 11-17 with free events, including a labyrinth, children's village, snowman competition, treasure hunt, magic shows, and storytellers.

The ski domain of the Grand Massif links the resorts of Flaine, Morillon, Samoëns and Sixt-Fer-A-Cheval. Skiers and snowboarders to Flaine enjoy access to 265 kilometres of piste and a snowpark. This winter there will also be two new hotels in the town resort, Le Refuge du Golf and Les Terrasses de Veret. Non-skiers can enjoy dogsledding, winter hiking trails, ice skating, quad biking, and snowshoeing.

The resort opened for the winter season Dec. 13 and plans to run until April 29. Flaine is just one hour from Geneva Airport.
