Backcountry Jam At Snowbasin, Snowbird; Night Jam At Powder Mountain

Snowbasin's crew puts on their first Avalanche Level I Class Dec. 16, 17, and 18.. The three-day course gives students a solid ground to prep and carry out a backcountry trip, as well as rescue tips to find and dig up a buried partner. The $210 pricetag includes lift ticket. Not quite ready for the comprehensive trianing? Then take Snowbird's Backcountry Skills Seminar, designed to help teach the basics of self-rescue, transceiver search techniques and travelling in avalanche terrain, will be offered. Make sure you dress in snow appropriate clothing as you will be outside most of the day. Seminar is 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. , costs $40. Sign-up in the Snowbird Activity Center or by calling (801) 933-4147.

It's time to Jam again at Powder Mountain Jan. 7.  The Park Jam and party under the lights takes place at Sundown Lift.  Powder makes it simple. No registration, no judging, just hours of jamming to live music. Hang out by the bonfire, pick up cool prizes, and have a whole lot of fun with friends and family from  4 - 9 p.m.  The event is free with a valid lift pass. There will be another Jam Night Jan. 21.
