The year-end gift-giving season is just around the corner, and Squaw Valley, in the spirit of the season, has some nice things to present its seasonal guests.
First off, there's the Learn to Ski and Ride Days Jan. 11, Feb. 8, and March 8, when first-time skiers and snowboarders are eligible for $35 beginner packages that include lift ticket, lesson, and equipment rentals.
Then there's the Squaw Club, in which full-time residents of the Reno/Tahoe area (or living in a 50-mile radius of Squaw Valley) can purchase a lift ticket every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for $49 (there's a $5 fee to join the club).
Or consider the resort's frequent rider program, in which enrollees ($5 online or $10 at ticket windows) get one free lift ticket for every four days of riding.
Or check out the College Pass, a restricted season pass (it's not good on Saturdays or during the usual holiday blackout periods) that goes for $299 for anyone who is a full-time student at a two- or four-year college or is enrolled in a graduate program.
Or if you can be a member of the armed forces and ski or ride for free any day of the week except during the usual blackout dates.
