Massanutten has created a spectrum of programs for people of all ages who would like to learn to ski or ride, or would like to ski or ride better.
The Virginia resort's Snow Sport Learning Center offers personalized coaching at all levels, the Pathway Program for beginners of all ages, and the children's Slope Sliders program.
Lesson packages can be purchased at any ticket window, but reservations are required for Slope Sliders and private lessons.
The Pathway Program is designed for the first-time skier or snowboarder age 7 and up. Participants progress through two separate one-hour coaching sessions in which they learn to master Massanutten's easiest terrain.
Hour-long lessons begin at 9 a.m., with the last at 7 p.m. Package rates are $79 for a Weekday Full Session, $99 for a Weekend/Holiday Full Session, $69 for a Half Session or Night, and $26 for coaching only. They include lift ticket, rental, and two one-hour lessons.
Private lessons start at $65 for a one-hour, one-person session, and rise to $250 for a six-hour, one-person session.
Slope Sliders offers skiing instruction to children ages 4 to 12, and snowboarding instruction to children 7 to 12, starting at $85 (without rentals) per session, which run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and include lunch.
