Tahoe Women's Services is a community-based organization providing direct services to victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, child abuse, and other individuals in crisis in the Truckee-North Lake Tahoe area. In fact, it's the only such agency in the region.
The goal of TWS, an independent, non-profit agency that has been doing the good work since 1985, is to ensure that every person has the right to live a life free of violence and abuse. TWS also provides safety nets - emergency shelter, food, clothing, transportation, etc. - for those moving through crisis to self sufficiency.
But the good deeds come at a cost. It's not cheap to see to all the needs of the abused while maintaining four office sites (in Truckee, Tahoe City, Kings Beach and Incline Village), a shelter, and 22 staff members.
So to help mitigate some of the expenses incurred by Tahoe Women's Services, Sugar Bowl has donated 1,000 lift tickets to TWS, which then sells them and pockets the proceeds.
The special Tahoe Women's Services lift tickets will be sold for $25 each and will be valid Saturday, Dec. 13. The tickets must be purchased by Dec. 12 and only through Tahoe Women's Services.
