Lee Poole, the owner of the Moonlight Basin, announced Dec. 1 that he is trying to sell all or a portion of the resort. The sale would raise money to complete facilities laid out in the resort's master plan while Poole would continue to manage the resort. The new master plan completed this past summer and approved by the county planning board laid out new ski lifts, 1,250 new homes, a five-star hotel, and a golf course, most to be built within five years, rather than the 20 years specified in the earlier master plan. "We're very excited about bringing on a new partner," said Poole, who did not reveal a price or potential buyer, but expressed hope for a completed deal early in 2008.
