Hidden Valley, Penn. Fires Up Snow Guns

Hidden Valley expands its arsenal. Hidden Valley expands its arsenal.

Hidden Valley's mountain crew has been powering up its brand new state-of-the-art TechnoAlpin Snowmaking machines as temperatures permitted.

Last winter the Penn. resort installed 30 of the TechnoAlpin snowmaking guns, and added 50 more for this season.

"The new guns are fully automated and equipped with weather instrumentation that allow them to adjust to changing weather conditions with no manual assistance," said Jim Shultz, mountain manager. "This will assure a consistent snow quality and provide carving snow for the resort's winter guests."

Shultz said with 80 new TechnoAlpin guns along with fully automated water pump stations, Hidden Valley has the largest fully automated TechnoAlpin installation in the United States. The resort also installed nearly five miles of underground water lines to assure the system's infrastructure is ready to allow the sophisticated snowmaking machines to operate at capacity.

The resort will offer $15 ski tickets for any day, twilight or night session from Dec. 1 through Dec. 23, 2008.

Hidden Valley is a four-season resort with 470 vertical feet. It has 28 runs covering 140 skiable acres serviced by one quad, two triples, three doubles and two surface lifts. Snowboarders are welcome on all runs and in the terrain park. Thirty kilometers of cross country trails are available.
