Sugarbush, aka Mascara Mountain, kicks off its 50th season with a weekend of nostalgia.
Resort owner Win Smith will host festivities, centered at Lincoln Peak Village in Warren, Vt., Dec. 12-14.
They include a special run of the Park Avenue Sugarbus Special, the ‘70s era of disco dancing, the Vogue-inspired ski fashions of the times, and the Wunderbar world of après ski.
The weekend also will include a retro après-ski party and a gala birthday celebration, a torchlight parade and fireworks display. Attire is "Vermont Black," meaning everything from bowties to blue jeans.
Smith encourages retro wear, and will award a 2009-10 season pass to the person with the best vintage outfit.
Weekend schedule highlights include10 a.m. Friday departure of the Park Avenue Sugarbus Special luxury bus; 8 p.m. Friday doors open for showing of retrospective Sugarbush movie; 2:30 p.m. Saturday après ski party begins; 6:45 p.m. Saturday torchlight parade; 1 p.m. Sunday Sugarbus Special returns to New York.
