Andorra's resorts have been relieved to receive snowfalls of up to 40cm (16 inches) in the pre-Christmas period, after last season's reliance on snowmaking through to early spring. Coupled with the country's huge snowmaking arsenal (helped by temperatures dipping below -10C on occasion),resorts have been opening between a half and two thirds of runs, albeit largely the easier green and blue category runs prior to Christmas and are now opening more for the peak New Year's week. Arcalis in VallNord, one of the country's highest ski areas, has almost all lifts and most runs open, including several reds, and its terrain park.
