Resorts in this article: Soldeu - El Tarter, Pal-Arnisal, Ordino-Arcalis, Pas de la Casa / Grau Roig
VallNord has announced a special package deal for visitors opening weekend, Dec. 5 - 8.
The offer is for two nights in the three-star Hotel Somriu and a two-day ski pass for 153.75 €.
VallNord has reported heavy snow in November with 40cm (16 inches) of snow falling in the first week of the month alone, so conditions are looking great for the start of the season.
Vallnord comprises three separate resorts at Arinsal, Pal, and La Massana. Pal and Arinsal were separate ski areas until the 2000-01 season; they remain two separate villages. That season the two resorts and ski areas were linked and began to market themselves jointly. This was followed by another marketing merger, this time with the Arcalis ski area (also known as Ordino). Together the ski areas became known as VallNord.
They are the latest of many resort mergers in Andorra so that the country which once had ten or so fragmented ski areas, now officially has just two ski resorts.
For those who want to ski all resorts in Andorra including lift-linked Soldeu and Pas de la Casa on one ticket, a five-out-of-six-day Ski Andorra ticket is available and valid at all ski areas in the principality.
It's relatively easy to ski the different areas, especially if you have a car. The best base is probably the principality's capital, La Vella, but even if you are based at any one of the four main ski areas, you can drive to any other within 30-75 minutes, traffic permitting.
