Alpine Meadows is adding a nice little feature to one of the nicest resorts in the Tahoe basin: the Alpine Club benefit card.

Day trippers to Alpine will receive permanent membership into the resort's newest club for a $10 outlay (season-pass holders are automatically incorporated into the system).

The benefits of membership include the ability to purchase lift tickets at home: When you buy the lift ticket online, the ticket will be loaded into your Alpine Club card. Then, you can stroll right into the Summit Sixpack or Roundhouse Quad lift line, bypassing the ticket windows.

Another benefit is that every time your Alpine Club card is scanned, your name is entered into a weekly drawing to win an Apple iPod.  More runs equal more scans, which in turn means more chances to win.  One Club member will win once a week through the end of March.

Also, Alpine Club members will save $6 and $11, respectively, off non-holiday ($64) and holiday ($69) lift ticket prices.

Other benefits include a $39 lift ticket on selected days (club members will be informed in advance), discounts on food and beverage and high-performance demo gear, retail and repair shop discounts, cut-rate VIP parking Monday through Friday and Alpine Club members parties on Fat Tuesday, Valentine's Day, and St. Patrick's Day.
