Heavenly Mountain Resort has one of the better season-pass deals around the Tahoe area: you get all the riding you want except for nine blackout days for $379.

It's an even sweeter deal if you're in college ($269) or over 65 years old ($299) .

Now get this: Not only do you get to ski or snowboard for free after only a few days of riding - based on the basic daily adult lift ticket rate of $80 - now Heavenly is offering to pay you to have your buddies pick up a season pass of their own.

This Heavenly promotion, dubbed the Refer A Friend program, will pay any pass-holder $20 in mountain money (which can be redeemed at the resorts cafeterias, restaurants and retail shops) for each and every person who drops your name when purchasing their own season pass.

These friends of yours also get a deal: Heavenly will lop $10 off the purchase price for a referred friend. Then, your friends will get a chance to bring other pals into the program and earn mountain money.

The sooner you act the better: The Refer A Friend program is only expected to last for a couple more weeks.
