Resorts in this article: Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort
Ski Anthony Lakes not only has the highest base elevation - 7,100 feet - of Oregon's winter mountain resorts, it also has some of the state's driest snow. Situated in one of the Basin ranges off Interstate 84 near Le Grande will see to that.
Here's another plus: Ski Anthony Lakes also has one of the lowest lift ticket surcharges in Oregon at $35.
Make it to Ski Anthony Lakes just before the weekend, and you'll save even more. The mid-size resort - 1,100 acres, 900 vertical, one chair lift, one surface lift and 21 runs - is charging only half price on Thursdays this season; that even includes New Year's Eve (though Christmas Eve is not an option because Ski Anthony Lakes is scheduled to be closed that day.)
A second money-saving option is to pick up one of Ski Anthony Lakes' Friday Four Pack. You can buy four lift tickets good on any Friday from Jan. 1 to March 27 for $71. However, this offer is available only until Dec. 24.
Another way to cut lift ticket costs is to take advantage of the Shell 2-for-1 Fridays. Just buy 10 gallons of gas at any participating Shell service station and you'll get a voucher for a twofer redeemable any Friday this winter at Ski Anthony Lakes.
