The world's female boarding elite from all over the world is going to flock to the glacier on Kitzsteinhorn above Kaprun to demonstrate their skills in the ‘Ticket to Ride Women's World Snowboard Tour,' Dec. 12-14.
The glacier's Roxy Chicken Park contains 23 jumps, rails, and boxes on 30,000 square metres of immaculate terrain.
The December event is the world's largest snowboard event exclusively for girls. Specialist rental agency Interhome has special prices starting from £276 in a cosy Austrian hideaway in the midst of the unparalled Hohe Tauern national park, 16km (10 miles) from nearby Zell am See for seven nights, sleeping up to four people.
The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is one of Austria's major boarding destinations, with the added attraction of year-round opening. It is extremely boarder-friendly with snow parks, natural pipes, and cable car access, which travels direct to the heart of the action. Chairlifts take over to serve the rideable terrain itself, the highlight of which is the Langwied sector which has natural halfpipes and bumps. Professional boarders train here and summer boarding camps are organised.
Intersport Bründl at the main lift station offers rentals, sales, and service on the glacier itself. The ski school also has boarding divisions. There's an additional halfpipe at the Glocknerwiese at neighbouring Zell am See, and plenty of surfing and cruising terrain all around the Region. A test centre provides demo boards on the slopes.
