The Martin Luther King Weekend saw the addition of Chair 8 to the open lifts at Ski Apache. The Elk Quad Chair, as it's otherwise named, opened up black diamond skiing on Bear, Oscar's, Buckthorn, and Elk Lift Line. Hard packed conditions prevailed over much of the weekend. The resort is 80 percent open, including seven features in Smokey Bear Terrain Park, but Apache Bowl's Chair 6 is still closed. Snowmaking on lower runs will continue nightly as long as cold temperatures permit.
