The Hotel Matterhorn Focus has opened its doors in time for winter 2008-09. The Swiss Tourist Board calls it "one of the most fascinating hotels in the Alps."

The renowned artist and designer Heinz Julen, from Zermatt himself, created this impressive structure. The façades of the new buildings are constructed of wood and large glazing and the roofs are covered in a traditional-style stone.  Julen has also been responsible for the interior design; all the rooms are furnished with furniture and works of art created by him.

It is set in a quiet location on the edge of the village of Zermatt. Hikers and winter sports fans will find easy access from the hotel to the mountains. The lower station of the Zermatt-Klein-Matterhorn cable car is accessible through an underground passageway from the hotel in just two minutes.

Julen is a friend of the owners Christian and Sonja Noti and developed the property along with his architect and team of planners and building specialists. The Hotel Matterhorn Focus offers a range of accommodation including suites, junior suites and deluxe and standard double rooms, and family rooms. Prices for winter 2008/9 start from €220 per night for a double room.
