Ski For UK's Starlight Children's Foundation In Saalbach

Saalbach Hinterglemm Saalbach Hinterglemm

The fourth annual Starlight Stublchase Ski Challenge takes place in Saalbach Hinterglemm Jan. 17-21, 2009. Skiers will be raising money to help the Starlight Children's Foundation, which supports seriously and terminally ill children throughout the UK.

The Starlight Stublchase Ski Challenge is one of the most entertaining skiing challenges in Austria. Ten teams of four skiers compete to visit as many of the 46 mountain restaurants known as ‘stubls' in one day. A schnapps and schnitzel in each is not compulsory.

The Starlight Stublchase covers 200 kilometres of freshly groomed piste. The day begins with a hearty ‘Sunrise Breakfast' and ends with an ‘Ice Party'.  Teams meet at the finish point when the last lift shuts to celebrate a long and successful day's skiing.

The Austrian Tourist Office says: "The Starlight Stublchase is as much a test of piste-map reading skills as skiing and is open to all levels of skier."

Jan. 17 is ‘Free to Ski Day' and Jan. 18 is ‘Research Day' where you can plan your route and enjoy the pre-chase mountain dinner. Monday Jan. 19 is the day of the challenge and Jan. 20 features a gala dinner and award ceremony.
