The high-altitude French resort of Les Orres has made significant improvements to its ski area for the coming winter season.

The ski slopes of Les Orres will open Dec. 13, 2008. Skiers and boarders will find an extension of snowmaking coverage, an enlargement of ski slopes, a new Garden of Snow in Bois Mean, and Web cam news on the top of chair lifts.

Also new for winter 2008-09 is the Ramble Walk at 800 metres. This will take place in the pedestrianised area between the centre of the resort and Bois Mean, which is ideal for walking with the family in the day or evening.

There are also new features for families: A new day stopover nursery in Orres at 1800 will accept children from six months to six years of age. The nursery is complete with an outside area of games. Reservations are recommended beforehand. For Phone 00 33 (0)4 92 44 06 74 for more information.

Another new feature is the Small Skaters. The Garden of Ice will offer free ice skating for children aged between three and four. The specialised skates are complete with stabilisers and double blades. A hard helmet also will be provided free of charge.

Free Wi-Fi in the village has been expanded, with more than 50 wireless points serving the high-altitude village.
