Les Contamines will stage two events in the Freestyle World Cup for the seventh year in a row. Events are in the skicross and half pipe disciplines.  Visitors to the resort casn take advantage of special VIP all inclusive packages during the event on the 10th and 11th of January 2009.

The event is the first major international competition of the year in the Mont Blanc region, with this charming little mountain village providing an idyllic base.  The international freestyle skiing elite will be united for a unique show in a great atmosphere.  The half pipe contest takes place in the centre of the village.

The World Cup weekend in January is an ideal period to come to Les Contamines with fresh snow and no queues with the busy Christmas/New Years period passed.

The resort is offering a World Cup Pack which includes three night's accommodation,  VIP access to the competition area, and a three day ski pass for the local Les Contamines ski area, as well as a special souvenir of your visit.  The package costs from 129 Euros per person based on four people sharing a two-star apartment.  Other packages can be arranged by contacting the resort.

Les Contamines, or Les Contamines - Montjoie, to give the resort its full official name, is a compact Savoyard village with a long history.  The resort has remained relatively unspoilt by the march of time and the growth of winter tourism, with the local population still totalling around a thousand.  The village is largely based around a single main street, based upon its eighteenth century baroque village church. 

The large local ski area is part of the huge Mont Blanc lift pass, which includes Chamonix, Megève, Courmayeur over in Italy, the resort's nearest neighbour St Gervais (ten minutes away on the bus), and half a dozen others.
