PGL Travel, a leading UK operator of children's adventure and activity holidays, is offering savings of 10 per cent on its ski and snowboard holidays for unaccompanied teens over Christmas.
The eight-day holidays for youngsters aged 13-17 years take place in Austria's well-known ski region of Kaprun - Zell am See and are suited for beginners as well as those with some experience. Instruction is in groups of similar ability.
All instruction is by qualified instructors, either PGL's own staff or in local, English-speaking ski schools. Skiers have five hours of instruction per day and boarders four hours. No teen will be allowed to ski or board unaccompanied.
Departure date is 26 December, making the holiday an ideal Christmas present with a new price of £809 per child (saving £90) for skiing and £845 (saving £94) for boarding.
The cost includes return overnight coach travel from London or Dover/Folkestone (supplement of £44 from Manchester and £33 from Birmingham), plus six night's full-board accommodation, equipment hire, lift pass and instruction, winter sports insurance, and that all-important après-ski fun such as bowling or ice-skating.
Zell am See is a small town on the shores of Lake Zell with a wide range of shops, many in the pedestrianised centre. It has its own ski area and shares a lift ticket with neighbouring Kaprun, although is not quite lift-linked to it. A regular ski bus links the high altitude skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier above Kaprun where there are powder bowls.
