Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), operator of heli-skiing vacations in the British Columbia Canadian Rockies, has expanded their calendar with the addition of its first Gay Heli-Ski Week. The week for gay skiers and snowboarders is scheduled for April 11-18, 2009 and will have a "gay travel personality" on the trip.
The week can accommodate 34 gay and lesbian skiers and snowboarders exclusively in Gothics Lodge. CMH intends to draw interest from around the world for the first-ever event, which is scheduled to include another CMH first: a long johns and lingerie themed party night.
Heli-skiing takes place in the Northern Selkirk Range and Monashees with a guarantee of 100,000 vertical feet. The terrain, running through trees and open glaciers, is known for runs such as Endless Journey, Run of the Century, and Breathless Bowl.
The Goldstream River Valley provides the lodging for seven days in Gothics Lodge, named after a group of steeple-like granite spires reminiscent of Gothic cathedrals.
The inaugural CMH Gay Heli-Ski Week costs $5,500 CAD per person. The rate is based on double occupancy and exclusive of GST, but includes certified guides, gourmet meals, daily morning stretch classes, and use of heli-skis, avalanche transceivers, outdoor hot tub, and steam room. It also includes return transportation to Calgary airport. Call (800) 661-0252 for more details.
