The first major rail jam of the season is at Boreal Mountain Resort. The first major rail jam of the season is at Boreal Mountain Resort.

Some of the top riders in the Tahoe region and beyond have been invited to pull off their best tricks on Boreal Mountain Resort's signature split double staircase at the fourth annual Jibassic Pro Rail Jam, the first major rail jam of the season, Saturday, Oct. 25.

The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. when the gates will open for the public to stroll through the sponsor village and check out the latest gear from FUEL TV, Thirty-Two Boots, 686 Outerwear, Dakine, and other free-ride-related companies and manufacturers.

Boreal will host a public jib park, sponsored by Boards ‘N Motion of Auburn, for those riders who have been itching to slide.  A custom-built jib park will be erected, and you can play on it for $5. Signed releases are required, all kids under 18 years must have a parent's or guardian's signature, and helmets are required.

The competition proper will be conducted from 6 p.m. onward, with skiing and snowboarding pros vying for a piece of the $6,000 purse and other goodies. The competitors will show their stuff on the specially constructed Snowboard magazine staircase. Boreal's terrain park crew built the feature over the summer and it will be placed on 60 tons of snow trucked in for the event.

There's no admission to the event, wth the exception of the public jib.
