With snowmaking crews on the spot to fire up the guns whenever the temps dropped, the Ludlow, Vermont area opened for the season on Thanksgiving Day with four upper mountain trails and two lifts operating. Meanwhile the warm November temperatures and lack of natural snowfall have allowed their golf course, just a mile or so down the road, to remain open later than usual. According to the head golf pro at Okemo Valley Golf Club the course stays open until the ground freezes or is covered with snow. And Okemo's Director of Public Relations Bonnie MacPherson says it looks like there should be golf at least through next weekend, maybe longer. So you sports junkies who can't get enough of either summer or winter can have both in the same day for a few days anyway.
