Whitetail Invests $2.7 Million

Pennsylvania has new trail, new lift, and enhanced snowmaking. Pennsylvania has new trail, new lift, and enhanced snowmaking.

Sidewinder, the new beginners trail at Whitetail, is 2,800 feet long, 80 feet wide, and fully lit for night skiing.

Sidewinder will have 26 tower-mounted Areco fan guns for complete snowmaking coverage.

Whitetail's Matt See said the resort has had good results from its existing arsenal of Arecos. A full power upgrade, 3,200 feet of new snowmaking pipe, and a new snowmaking pump complete this season's enhancements, he said.

The resort's pumping capacity has gone from 6,500 gallons per minute to 7,650 gpm. The water source is a 100 million gallon reservoir that amply meets demand.

Whitetail is installing a Hall double chair - not new, but fully refurbished and repainted - on Lower Angel Drop. The 1,000-foot-long chair will serve the Jib Junction expert terrain park.

The lift is designed to allow skiers and riders to use the park without having to ride up the Whitetail Express High-Speed Quad and ski down Upper Angel Drop each time, or walk up after each run.
