Lots of Hiking . . .

As temps finally climb back to a sweaty 30 degrees after a frigid week of below zero, still no snow is falling in Utah.
In a desperate attempt to find something worth riding other than the terrain parks, I have been hiking a lot. Let me tell you something, even that is borderline. The promised storms of the "Greatest snow on Earth" are turning out 4 inches, every resort tells a white lie and we have a brand new 10 inches or more. Not even close.
I have been hiking Pinecone Ridge at PC off the Jupiter lift, Duchess and SquareTop off 9990 at The Canyons and I am totally giving up riding for the rest of the month. Wait, did I just say that out loud? I sound like a powder snob. I take it back, i will just keep riding park.
On a snowmaking side note, the guns have been absolutely killing it here. With temps well below zero for nearly a week we shot whales all over the mountain and have built base to last till July, okay maybe not that long, but if the temps stay in the low teens we will have our snowmaking tasks complete ahead of schedule, now we just have to wait for mother nature to stop sending the jet stream over Texas and Mexico.
In the meantime I am going to go kick it at Sundance this week, Vegas next. Happy riding to those of you actually getting snow, cause here in Utah we got packed snowmaking runs.
