Ski and Snowboard News, Deals, and Events

Well, this is the first time I've ever written a blog, so I can't promise that it's going to be the best you've read, but I'll try! My mother loves to ski, so I started taking lessons when I was very young, I'd guess around 3 or 4. Ya know, those cute, little-tiny kids all roped together pizza pie-ing all over the bunny hill? That was me. Around 7th or 8th grade, (I won't specify what year...) I decided I wanted to be one of the cool kids, so I started taking snowboarding lessons. I regret to inform you I've never become a master of the snowboard. But I still like to do it every once in awhile! I can ski double blacks, and ride (fall) blacks. I normally ski, but when I'm feeling patient I might break out my board. I LOVE Northstar at Tahoe. That's where I started skiing, and I'm more than attached to it. I could go down Village Run with my eyes closed. It helps that my parents have a house that I can ski right up to. I would describe myself as a solitary mountain person. I like to meet up for lunch, but other than that, prefer to be out on my own, taking things at my own pace. Speaking of Northstar, I have to say I'm not quite sure how I feel about the new village. Have you seen it yet? I was up over Labor Day weekend, and was surprised to find most of it open. Too fancy? Maybe. Convenient? Yes. I ran out of coffee and found there was a Starbucks right in the village. I am hoping to go up as soon as they get a good ground cover. Even if the lifts aren't running, you can bet I'll be sledding! (Am I the only one who misses the blue rooftops?!?)
