Squaw Valley USA and Snow Park Technologies (SPT) are ready to outdo the first-ever 22-foot cubed halfpipe built at the resort last season. This year they've announced an official partnership, which will launch Squaw into the driver's seat as one of the most progressive park and pipe resorts in North America.
Snow Park Technologies will oversee all facets of Squaw Valley's terrain parks from this season forward. SPT will focus on design collaboration, recruitment and development, and the company will also work with the resort to develop new park and pipe-related events for future.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to be partnering with SPT," said Andy Wirth, Squaw Valley's president and chief executive officer. "Our goal is to have the quality of our parks and pipe ultimately match the unbeatable caliber of our mountain, and there is truly no one better in the industry to help us achieve this goal. SPT is the best of the best."
SPT was established in 1999, and the company focuses on the design, construction and progression of terrain parkst. Snow Park's expertise includes designing and building some of the most renowned resort terrain parks, halfpipes and high-profile ski and snowboard competition courses. Its client base includes Burton, ESPN Winter X Games, Winter Dew Tour, Nike and DC Shoes, as well as some of the top resorts in the country.
Squaw Valley's partnership with SPT is part of the resort's $50 million capital plan to improve all aspects of the mountain and guest experience. Squaw Valley has committed a renewed focus towards high-quality terrain parks and flawless mountain operations in addition to several new dining options and facilities for this coming season.
Last year SPT built a custom half-pipe for Simon Dumont.
