Chilean resorts enjoyed another snow dump this past weekend, with reports of between 50cm and 75cm (20 to 30 inches) of fresh powder. Valle Nevado has a reported total of 2.25 meters (7.4 feet) of snow to date, with most runs open and the resort in full swing.
Valle is offering tantalizing discounts and promotions this season. For all promotions, skiers and snowboarders must book a 7-night stay. Throughout the entire season, those who book in the Hotel Valle Nevado or Hotel Puerta del Sol receive 6 group ski or snowboard classes FREE, for two hours per day. If booking a double room, the second person pays only 50% of the package price from June 29 to July 5, from August 17 to August 30, and from September 21 to September 27. One child under 12 years is free of charge with two paying adults from July 6 to July 13, and from September 7 to September 20.
If you don't mind squeezing, book a double and add an additional bed for a third person at no cost from August 3 to August 16, and from August 31 to September 6. Ski corn, soak up spring sunshine, and ski or snowboard on the cheap during the last week of the season from September 28 to October 2 with a 2x1 deal in the Hotel Valle Nevado or Puerta del Sol.
Valle Nevado expects up to 140,000 visitors this winter, and to meet the demand they've opened new shops and new lift called La Candonga, which will offer faster access to other slopes and less waiting time, and an extended lift schedule from 8:30am to 5pm. Other novelties include free Wi-Fi, a welcome drink, and après-ski tea from 4pm to 6pm.
