Hidden Valley Four Seasons Resort, Pa. is replacing the doubles with a new quad and a loading conveyor, the resort's second such device. One was installed on the mountain's summit quad last season.
"A conveyor makes for smoother loading," said the resort's William Doring. "When you have multiple skiers and boarders together, a conveyor makes everything easier."
The resort also is building a North Summit skier services center - essentially a mini-lodge with ski passes, food, restrooms and ski patrol center - and a new maintenance facility for the North summit.
"Most notable for customers, we'll have an actual conveyor for the tubing area this winter," Doring said.
He said more work is planned for the 2009-10 season, when Hidden Valley intends to cut more slopes off the summit and install another lift.
"This year the main focus was snowmaking pipe for the new guns, and the chairlift," he said, referring to snowmaking work described in an earlier OnTheSnow.com report.
