It's a big year for one of Colorado's most iconic ski areas. On November 11, Breckenridge Ski Resort turns 50, and the resort has a winter-long birthday party lined up.
Breck will celebrate with special promotions and events, the usual signature events, and hopefully the same snow that fell last season.
Click here to stay abreast of all that's going on. And for now, here are a few of the signature items in store for this year.
Nike 6.0 Winter Dew Tour: December 15 - 18
In just three years, the Winter Dew Tour has skyrocketed to the top of the competition world. The three-stop tour kicks off again at Breckenridge, with ski and snowboard pipe and slopestyle. Colorado is known to have the world's best early season park conditions, and since the entire pro snowsports world is already in Summit Country training, this Dew Tour stop always brings out the best talent.

UllrFest: January 8 - 14
For a few days every January, all of Breckenridge goes wild celebrating winter and honoring Ullr, the Norse god of snow. Don't miss the UllrFest parade on Main Street, which is probably the single wildest event of the year in Breck.

International Snow Sculpture Championship: January 16 - 20
If you think your backyard snowman is something to brag about, think again. For the last 21 years, the world's best snow sculptors have descended on Breckenridge to craft frozen works of art that put Frosty to shame. Last year, team Mexico somehow overcame it's lack of home training opportunities to win the world champs. According to judge Jenn Cram, their sculpture "defied gravity in a few places... especially with the dragon head." How can you pass on that?
