Resorts in this article: Wolf Creek Ski Area

Even though just Wolf Creek's Nova Run and the Nova beginner lift (with a few jumps here and there) are open, you can get your ski legs in shape. That's less than one percent of the mountain on machine-made conditions. Lift tickets are $10. The Wolf Creek Lodge is open with lunch available. Ski school staff is available for ski and snowboard lessons, which includes the Wolf Pups, ages 5-8. Rentals are available, and the Treasure Sports store is open. Wolf Creek is a low-key place to visit in the early season. Only 89 people showed up for opening day. The resort plans to open more terrain as conditions allow. Wolf Creek is 246 miles from Denver, in southern Colorado. The closest airports are in Durango/La Plata, the Alamosa Municipal Airport, and in Albuquerque, N.M.. Lodging is in Pagosa Springs on the west side, and South Fork on the east. Call Central Reservations at 970-264-5639 to arrange your trip.
