Alyeska Resort is putting its money where its mouth is by offsetting the carbon footprint of all of the energy used by its tram starting this season. The resort will do this by purchasing 403,200 kilowatt-hours of annual renewable energy over the next 10 years. The resort purchased the carbon footprint offset through a partnership with Denali Green Tag's Tour Green Program and Bonneville Environmental Foundation's (BEF) SkiGreen program, which provides clean energy options throughout the State of Alaska. "The Denali Green Tag program affords the resort and its customers an opportunity not only to offset much of Alyeska's carbon footprint, but to do so in support of renewable energy resources right here at home, more specifically the Fire Island wind project," says John Byrne, owner of Alyeska Resort.
