Zermatt is one of a handful of resorts left in the world that still endeavours to open for skiing every day of the year. The resort operates Europe's highest ski lifts in the summer only on its glacier, with spectacular views of the Matterhorn. The range of skiing is so extensive that Zermatt offers a bigger lift-served vertical than any southern hemisphere resort even, in the northern hemisphere's mid-summer.

A variety of special Summer Skiing packages are available that include your choice of stay duration, your choice of start date, your choice of hotel category or apartment and your choice of board basis. All packages include lift ticket and a free entry to the Matterhorn Museum. Prices start from 152 Swiss Francs for a two-night stay with two-day lift pass in low category accommodation to 1,410 Swiss Francs for seven nights' half board in a four-star superior hotel with seven-day lift pass.

    I have been goin to Alpbach for 7 years now, I stay with one of the main ski instructors Urban migrater and his wife Hilda. Although I have been going for so long, I am amazed at the new off pist runs and sledging he shows us each year, I say us, as I have met up with people from France , Germany , Italy , America, England in fact from all over the world, who have been going to Alpbach for as long as 35 years. in fact one of my friends, maurice, had his ashes spread at the cross on the top of 2000. The villagers are more than friendly, and some of the eating places in the mountains take your breath away. I have skied in many places over the years, but this small village beats them all. The first time I went there on my own, I arrived at 9 at night, the next mornin at 6.30, I was milking cowes with a family in the mountains. FANTASTIC.
