A Chondola is a high-speed detachable lift that carries six-person chairs and eight-person gondola cabins at regular intervals. The lift is being manufactured by Doppelmayr CTEC and will be running for the 2008-09 season.

The lift will go from the South Ridge base area directly to the Peak Lodge on North Peak, affording access to six of Sunday River's eight peaks. The lift will cut a 20-minute ride on two separate lifts to a single ride of just under seven minutes.

The Chondola will be 5,994 feet long, rise 1,149 vertical feet, carry 2,213 skiers per hour, have 64 six-person chairs and 16 eight-person cabins, and take 6.96 minutes for the trip.

"This is much more than a ski lift, it will transform how Sunday River interacts with guests in all four seasons. The transformation will be seen at all levels of the resort in coming years. This is just the beginning," said Dana Bullen, Sunday River general manager.
