Fernie Beefs Up Tree Skiing

Fernie Alpine Resort in B.C. pulled out the chainsaws this summer to glade more runs. Trees were thinned out on KC Chutes, Cedar Ridge, Currie Glades, and Stagleap. New lines also were cut in the Mitchy Chutes off the Timber Chair. The resort aimed for glade spacing on some of the runs that would make tree skiing for the intermediate skier more accessible.

Skiers and snowboarders returning to Fernie will find the resort added more on-mountain signs, more snowmaking in high traffic areas, and more parking. Both the Bear's Den rest area and the day lodge also were upgraded.
