Jay claims annual snowfall of more than 400 inches, which it says is the greatest snowfall of any New England resort. It's looking at a good possibility of three feet of snow by the time the most recent storm winds down and leaves town. Jay regulars attribute the plentiful powder to the mountain's stand-alone status just south of the Canadian border, where its sharp slopes form a barrier to arctic air masses and induce heavy snowfall. The area has three lifts and 34 trails open, with more expected by the day. The Hotel Jay is offering a package for $90 that includes lodging, lift ticket, breakfast, and dinner.
