Can ski and snowboard season be far behind with colder weather and snow flurries appearing across the upper Great Lakes? Hopefully not, but the winter weather hasn't been great in the Heartland the last couple of seasons. Over 60-percent of Midwest resorts had a delayed opening last season, according to the National Ski Areas Association.
The snow came early to the Great Lakes Three seasons ago and stayed around for most of the season. Midwestern skiers and boarders are ready for some early openings. Ski Brule's Tom Roddy said, "The snow guns are ready, and if it stays cold enough we may fire them up." We are planning on opening Nov. 11 if the weather cooperates. There were flurries in the air as we spoke. Stay tuned and keep your skis crossed for a good season.
