It was one of the goals of the RockResort founder, Laurance S. Rockefeller, when he founded the company in 1956. He celebrated the natural environment and wanted to protect it for current and future generations. The lodges now will focus on integrating "green," when it comes to guest rooms, weddings, and cuisine. This includes lots of recycling and use of organic items, environmentally-friendly décor, and organic meats and dairy. It also includes energy and water conservation and local community outreach.
