Sunrise Park received 6-12 inches of new snow over the first weekend in December; however, the new snow is not enough to open the resort. Sunrise had a projected opening date of Dec. 7, but due to lack of snow and warm temperatures in November that prevented snowmaking, Sunrise has postponed opening until conditions improve. "There is snow in the forecast this week, and our plans are to continue to make snow and work on getting open," said Marilyn Endfield-Lavato, General Manager of Sunrise Park Resort. "We are looking forward to the upcoming season and are disappointed that we aren't opening this weekend."
