The semi-wide run stays true to the fall-line and offers advanced skiers several challenging turns while holding a consistent pitch the whole way down. The run is one of three advanced slopes offered at the Banner Elk resort.
With 100 percent snow making across the mountain the base is growing with every passing hour, according to mountain rep Kim Jochl. Temps dropped early last week and guns have been firing almost non-stop.
Sugar currently has 13 of its 20 runs open, but with their current cold snap forecasted to persist into the foreseeable future, the mountain should have around 16 trails open for this weekend.
Adding to the winter atmosphere is a heavy dusting of lake effect snow making its way down from Lake Michigan. If weather predictions are correct, the Great Lake could graciously provide Sugar with a further inch of the fresh stuff on Thursday.
