The Sports Clinic will be held again in Snowmass, March 30-April 5. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 15. This clinic helps U.S. military service veterans, and those still on active duty, learn how to Alpine and Nordic ski, while adjusting to their disabilities. Between 350 and 400 srvice personnel are expected to participate. The clinic is open to U.S. military service veterans with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic amputations, visual impairments, certain neurological problems, and other disabilities. Veterans who receive health care at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility or military treatment facility have first priority. Others participating include a number of active duty military personnel from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. There is no tuition fee, but participants have to pay their own travel expenses. Veterans organizations typically help defray some of the cost. Scholarships, as well as a registration packet, are available by calling Teresa Parks, Clinic Coordinator, at 970-263-5040.
