Blustery weather dumped 30 inches of snow in one week in the mountains surrounding Jackson, prompting Snow King to run their Cougar Lift for advanced skiers only on two groomed runs. Meanwhile, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort added their Sublette Chair followed by the new East Ridge Chair to their list of operational lifts. With surprising early season powder, skiers and riders are digging the opening of Rendezvous Bowl and a chance to ski all 4,139 of vertical. Groomed runs have soft, carvable snow; and in the trees it's been thigh deep. "The combination of powder, uncrowded slopes and early season fitness is resulting in some very happy, tired skiers," says Anna Olson, Director of Public Relations for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
