Things are gearing up around the state for a busy March. Big Rock Ski Area at Mars Hill celebrates Winterfest starting March 9th with a Learn to Ski Clinic for $20. The fun continues on Saturday evening with the Kardboard Klassic sled race at 5 pm followed by a Chicken Stew Supper. Big air fans can work off the dinner at the 3rd Annual Rocky Mountain Sports/Big Rock Big Air Contest. The festivities continue with a torch light parade and fireworks and wind up with dancing into the night. Stick around for the Obstacle Course Race on Sunday. At Camden Snow Bowl you can enjoy all the new snow on skis or boards for just $10 midweek for the rest of the season. Don't have your equipment, rentals are $15. Shawnee Peak celebrates Maine State Day on March 8th. Bring your Maine driver's license or state ID and ski or ride 9 am to 9 pm for just $20. That day is also Non Profit Thursday. Ten percent of all lift tickets purchased between 9 am and 3 pm will be donated to this week's recipient, The Nature Conservancy. Saturday the 10th the 4th Annual Firemen for a Cure Race will be held with teams of five firefighters in full turn out gear racing to raise money for breast cancer.
